Booking an Appointment

Appointments can be made by:

We aim to offer all our patients access to a doctor or nurse within 48 hours but can offer earlier appointments if the problem is urgent.

A standard appointment with a doctor is allocated 10 minutes; if you feel you need longer than this, then please request a double appointment. This helps the doctor’s appointment schedule to run on time.

Standard nurse appointments are between 10-30 minutes depending upon the nature of the problem. To help you book the receptionist will ask you a few details.

Sometimes you might find that our appointments may be running late. This will always be because the doctor or nurse has had to deal with a complex problem affecting other patients earlier on in the clinic. Usually this is unavoidable and we do ask your understanding in this matter.

Urgent Appointments

We are a busy practice, and providing some same day appointments makes it easier for you to see a doctor quickly. You can phone on the day at 8am, for non urgent appointments please contact us online.

Home Visits

Whilst we encourage our patients to come into the surgery, where we have the proper equipment and facilities available, we understand that this is not always possible. Therefore, if you do need a home visit, you can help us by calling the practice before 11:00. Any home visits requested after 11.00am may need to be seen the following day.

You may only request a home visit if you are a housebound or are too ill to visit the practice. Your GP will only visit you at home if they think that your medical condition requires it and will also decide how urgently a visit is needed.

Please bear this in mind and be prepared to provide suitable details to enable the doctor to assess the urgency of your visit. If you are suffering with chest pains, breathing problems or severe abdominal pain, please make sure that you communicate it to us.

Cancelling an appointment

If you are unable to keep your appointment, please give us as much notice as possible so that your appointment can be offered to someone else.

If you are cancelling please complete our Cancel an Appointment form, or alternatively call the practice on 0121 559 2044 as soon as possible, and at least 30 minutes before your appointment time. This will enable us to offer your appointment to someone else.

Alternatively you can cancel your appointment online using Patient Access if you are signed up to the service.

Cancellations notified less than 30 minutes before the appointment time will be recorded as failure to attend (DNA).

Repeated failure to attend booked appointments is a significant waste of NHS resources and may lead to your registration being removed from our list.
